How big is a 2 carat diamond?
A well-cut 2.00ct round is about 8.1mm across. Elongated shapes spread further along the finger for the same weight.

Why does a 2 carat diamond cost more than double?
Natural diamonds of 2 carats and over are far rarer than 1 carat stones, so both the weight and the price per carat go up. Lab-grown diamonds don’t rise as steeply with size, which is why many buyers at this size compare both. See lab-grown diamonds.
Which grades matter most at 2 carats?
A larger table shows more of the diamond. Colour is easier to see, and inclusions that would be invisible at 1 carat can be visible at 2.
For step cuts such as emerald and Asscher, we suggest G to H colour and VS2 or better. Brilliant cuts such as round, oval and radiant hide more, so an eye-clean SI1 can work.
